Day Early Learning Centers

For more than 100 years, Early Learning Indiana was known as Day Nursery. Under that name, we spent more than a century building a reputation as Central Indiana’s standard-bearer for excellent child care. In 2014, Day Nursery changed its name to Early Learning Indiana, and our early childhood centers became known as Day Early Learning centers.

As Early Learning Indiana, our goal is to continue our tradition of being the area’s best source for child care services and resources, while embracing a larger role as an advocate and leading voice for early childhood education in Indiana. Our mission every day is to assure the highest quality early childhood education for children in Indiana.

Ideas and practices about child care have changed a great deal in the past one hundred years. Today, child care is about developmentally-appropriate learning for all ages, starting at infancy and carrying through to kindergarten age. At our Day Early Learning centers we care for and educate children ages 6 weeks through 6 years, all day, year round.

We set our standards high.ptq-logo (1)

Early Learning Indiana provides excellent care and education at its eight state-licensed and nationally accredited child care, preschool and pre-K centers in central Indiana, as well as two pre-K programs in Indianapolis charter schools. Seven of our ten centers are rated a level 4, the highest level on Indiana’s Paths to QUALITY* rating scale, the other three are at level 3 and will reach level 4 in the next year. They are too new to qualify for the national accreditation that comes with level 4. Learn more.

We prepare your child for success.

Early education is a critical part of young children’s development and research shows it not only prepares children for kindergarten, but for a successful future of life-long learning. The program’s major focus is the development of the individual child and we take an activity-based approach to preparing kids for kindergarten. Along with cognitive growth, attention is paid to the child’s social, emotional and physical growth, with opportunities for each child to explore and learn. We support parent involvement.

Day Early Learning conducts parent/teacher conferences, encourages parental visits and participation, and provides resources for parents.  Day Early Learning centers also use the parent communication and record-keeping tool LifeCubby, an app that allows parents access to information about their individual child’s meals, diaper changes, naptime, and educational activities the kids are engaged in. We Make early education affordable.

Early Learning Indiana provides low-to-moderate income parents the advantage of quality care and early education at an affordable price. Day Early Learning centers accept Child Care Development Vouchers (CCDF) and thanks to generous financial support from donors, Early Learning Indiana provides tuition scholarships to income-eligible parents through Early Learning Indiana’s Tuition Assistance Program (TAP).  Learn more.

Day Early Learning centers are staffed by certified instructors.  All full-time teachers have a college degree or the Child Development Associate (CDA) credential. Early Learning Indiana also supports its teaching staff by offering generous tuition assistance for early childhood courses and encourages all staff to pursue further education for personal fulfillment and career development.
